Symptoms of Bed Bug Injury
How to Know If You Have Been Exposed to Bed Bugs
Did you take a vacation recently, and stay in a hotel or motel? While you were there, did you notice some itching, or see what looked like a mosquito bite? If the one bite turned into many, it’s very possible that you were exposed to bed bugs. Unfortunately, bed bugs live on human blood. It can be a painful and time-consuming process to get rid of them, and you could even end up with permanent scarring.
The Symptoms of Bed Bug Bites
In a bed bug infestation, the first thing you will typically notice is red, itchy bites on your skin. In most cases, the first bites will appear on your face, neck, hand, arms or shoulders. The bites are red, frequently with a darker red spot at the center. They are customarily in fairly straight rows or clusters of bites. Although they have never been shown to transmit disease from one person to another, they do carry a number of known pathogens.
While symptoms are somewhat different with everyone, welts will generally appear and increase in size, often larger than a typical mosquito bite. The welts can bring intense itching. In some of the worst cases, you can have a serious allergic reaction, if you have a substantial number of bites. The welts can break open and result in bleeding. The bites can develop blisters or lead to hives.
