New Jersey Medical Malpractice Lawyers discuss Unlicensed Doctor now Practicing in VA
One of the latest cases of medical malpractice involves a physician with an extensive history of malpractice, Dr. Steven Brigham, who currently manages two clinics in Virginia. Brigham’s license has been revoked, suspended, and/or allowed to lapse several times in many states, including New Jersey, records indicate.
His license was suspended in New Jersey in 2010 after the state board determined that his clinic had administered grossly negligent care to five patients. Brigham was also disciplined by the New York Health Department for botching a 26th week late-term abortion. The patient, according to a New Yorker article, had bled out for three hours when she was finally taken to a hospital. In Maryland, 2011, Brigham was charged with multiple counts of murder after investigators found several dozen late-term abortion fetuses frozen at one of his medical facilities. The charges were subsequently dropped.
Medical Malpractice – Moving to Other States to Begin Again
Brigham is currently conducting business in the state of Virginia: a women’s services clinic in Fairfax, and a wellness center located in Virginia Beach. According to the Virginia Health Department, they have been dutifully informed of Brigham’s history in other states. It is confirmed that he is not (currently) a licensed practitioner in the state of Virginia. Although, apparently there is no regulation preventing Brigham from the ownership of any type of medical facility.
